Cornwall, in true Cornish fashion, offers a huge amount of wonderful, award winning pubs. Distilling them all down to a few local favourites was hard, but we did it. Behold our selection! Serving modern British food using Cornish produce, Paul Ainsworth at No.6 is a Michelin-starred townhouse restaurant situated in the heart of Padstow. With a flair for excellent service, Ainsworth offers a varied menu, with several options for vegetarians and children aged four and above. The restaurant draws a large crowd and tables are limited, so book in advance on 01841 532093, or pop in and enquire when you visit Padstow.

It would be a crime to visit Cornwall without enjoying a traditional Cornish cream tea, and the Carnewas Tea Rooms at Bedruthan is the perfect place to indulge! All scones are freshly baked each morning and you can enjoy them in the idyllic tea gardens overlooking the famous Bedruthan Steps. Of course, more important than anything else, the big question to consider is cream or jam – which goes first?!

The Mermaid Inn is a traditional, family-run pub situated right on the beach at Porth, making it the perfect spot to grab some food or a cold drink whilst enjoying the surf and sand. There is something for everyone on the extensive menu, and their specials board serves up the best in local fish and homecooked food daily. Plus, dogs are welcome so there’s no need to leave anyone behind!

Not just any old pub, the Traveller’s Rest in Trevarrian boasts an impressive 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, and a certificate of excellence. This delightful pub is well known for its great food (in particular the Sunday carvery), great atmosphere, and lovely staff. If you’re in Trevarrian it’s well worth a visit particularly if you have kids – the pub is family-friendly and has highchairs as well as a children’s menu.

The perfect lookout across the coast, the Fort Inn is a bright and comfortable pub that welcomes the whole family. Children will be kept entertained with the play areas on offer and dogs are allowed inside, plus the amazing selection of freshly cooked food is very reasonably priced – you won’t go hungry here! Aside from all this the Fort Inn is worth checking out for the stunning views across the harbour alone!

You’ll find a menu of cod and haddock together with a large range of local fish like hake, plaice, haddock and lemon sole which is often landed right here on our doorstep in Padstow. Our fish is coated in our homemade batter and deep fried in beef dripping to make it really crisp and we serve our own mushy peas and curry sauce as well as our homemade mayonnaise-based tartare sauce.

Nestled close by in the picturesque village of St Mawgan, this is a traditional village inn with plenty of atmosphere. Expect a roaring log fire, wooden beams and an award-winning garden to spend sunny days in. If you’re after great honest food at reasonable prices, there’s no need to look anyway else; The Falcon Inn is a perfect place to stop while exploring the local area around The Park.

The chances are you’ll have heard of The Seafood Restaurant before; Rick Stein’s original Cornish establishment, the restaurant has a reputation for using the finest freshest fish to create simple but flavoursome dishes. Watch your dish being prepared in the central seafood bar or make the most of your visit with the a la carte menu. Due to its popularity we recommend booking the restaurant in advance on 01841 532700.

Located on Fistral Beach in Newquay, Paul Harwood’s Fish House creates rustic and authentic seafood dishes using locally caught fish and shellfish from Newquay Harbour. It’s the perfect setting – just a stone’s throw away from the sea, you can sit back, relax and watch the sunset, whilst indulging in the finest local Cornish food and soaking up the atmosphere of this world-famous beach. Nathan Outlaw is renowned for his focus on the simple delights of British seafood cookery, and his flagship restaurant in Port Isaac doesn’t disappoint – it was recently announced as the UK’s best restaurant in the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2018. Offering a seafood tasting menu for both lunch and dinner, dishes feature sustainable seafood caught off the Cornish coast. You can find his ‘Fish Kitchen’ in Port Isaac too.
